Lingerie is to me, what bags and shoes are to most other girls. I adore everything about it and how it can make you feel when wearing it. Put simply, it can make or break your day from the moment you put it on.

One such trend that I've been obsessing over, is the lacey-bikini look sets; featuring a minimalistic band and a few strategically placed pieces of lace detailing to cover the obvious. Effortlessly cool brand For Love And Lemons inspired me with their delicate floral lingerie pieces, however I just felt that - as a student - I couldn't justify the price. And from that moment, a new mission was born - to find a more affordable equivalent. 

In comes ASOS. I'll admit that I haven't really been spending too much on clothing as of late, but after scrolling through the #fashion tag on my IG feed, I've decided that a little browse on the ASOS app couldn't hurt anyone. And that's when I saw them. The most beautiful lingerie set i've seen in a while. The Vine Appliqué Triangle bra and panties come as separates but at just £24 combined (£16 for the bra, £8 for the panties), it's really not something that you need to ponder over for longer than 0.3 seconds to decide if you're going to buy it or not. 

Because of the shape and design of the lingerie, I feel as though it's something that could either be worn as outer wear, or indeed just covered up and left to be seen by that special person of your choice. For me personally, I think I'm going to style the set as part of my outfit, in a sort of peek-a-boo way. I have a double date planned for this Friday, so I've decided to show you how I plan on wearing the lingerie for that.

The check curved hem shirt and ripped Jamie jeans are both from Topshop, and are recent purchases of mine. Incase you haven't heard, there's currently 20% off for students at the minute, so um, yeah. Get on that. I made it half way out the store with those before I came across an oversized black coat and decided that I needed that as well. But that's a story for another post.

Like the photo suggests, I'm planning on wearing the shirt fastened by a couple buttons at the bottom, leaving the top open and showing off the bra in small doses. A leather jacket and black strappy heels just finishes off the outfit and gives it enough edge to be dressy enough for dinner and drinks.

NEW LOOK CARMEN BOOTS.

What is a girl to do at 3:23am, when getting blood from a stone seems more likely than getting a little shut eye? Shop. Us insomniac girls, we shop. Especially when it was student loan day less than 24 hours ago.

The websites I tend to hit up include the likes of: Missguided, Daisy Street, Pretty Little Thing, Topshop, eBay, ASOS etc etc. Then, if i'm feeling particularly lavish, Net-A-Porter and The Outnet. It's very rarely that I actually purchase anything from the latter two, but I like to dream. 

Lately I've been sensing a trend and seeing lots of bloggers purchasing boots similar to these from Pretty Little Thing, and although they're a little high and not really something that I would find myself wearing too often, I did want to get in on the chunky sole trend. 

After coming across these monochrome Carmen ankle boots from New Look (found at ASOS), I began to justify them to myself. They would undoubtedly go with a lot of my wardrobe, be comfortable and stylish enough to wear from day to night, and I could wear them on Osbourne Road (Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK)  for the bank holiday this coming Sunday; but the point that had me sold, was that they're only £20.50 in the sale. It's safe to say that they were purchased in less than 60 seconds.

Seeing as I've been trying to find topics to blog about on a daily basis recently, I thought it would be a good idea to do a 'How To Style' post and show you how I plan on wearing the boots on the bank holiday this week. It's obvious that the items I've chosen are from my dream wish list, but it's easy to replicate the look just by popping up to your high street and seeing what's on offer there.

I wanted to keep the look in tune with the boots and having everything monochrome. Especially seeing as I'm an avid 'all black (and white) everything' fan. I added in the Chanel J12 watch as that is one beaut that I've wanted to get my hands on for years, and the Moschino Violetta bunny iPhone case just ties the look together nicely with a little Easter flourish.

Pick of The Day; ASOS Wrap Skirt

Slowly but surely, the wrap skirt (in a variety of colours; from white to neon brights) has evolved as a major trend for 2013 - mainly from style bloggers. We all know what a typical wrap skirt looks like, but  what makes this particular one different is its angular cut and fresh new take on the shape - It reminds me of a Celine design actually. After waiting to decide if it was a trend that I wanted in on, I came across this lime version at ASOS and immediately decided that I wanted it. There was no doubt about it. Rather than just show you the skirt and be done with it, I thought I would style it on Polyvore and show you exactly how I would wear it. 

The skirt itself is only £36 and comes in either lime or cobalt. Both colours are stunning, but there's something about this neon version that gets me lusting after it more than the other. You could easily dress this skirt up for a smarter occasion but being such a laid back person, I thought a simple graphic tank, chained waist belt, neon clutch, simple bracelet and some heeled pointed shoes from Zara would look just as good. I pretty much wear my black Zara heels with everything anyway, so this outfit was going to be no exception - best £35 I've ever spent if I'm honest.

Day to Night: It's A New York State of Mind

Day - Night

Just as I'm about to lose all hope in finding a topic to blog about, and make my 6th post this week (In 3 days! I'm on a roll), I come across the new pre-fall 2013 NY State of Mind range by tibi and immediately feel inspired. As soon as I saw the Empire State trousers, I could envision both a day and night styling option and felt compelled to blog about it ASAP. So that's what I've done!

Unfortunately I don't live in the concrete jungle just yet (give it 5 years max and I'll be there), however if I did, I can imagine my footwear consisting of Nike Air Max or Free Run's with all the commuting that I would no doubt be doing. So that's what I chose to pair the trousers with - luckily you can customise your Nike's until your heart's content, so there was always going to be a colour to match the trousers perfectly. As for the tee that I chose, well, 'city girl' may be a little cliche but I went for it anyway and added a BCBG by Max Aria harness to add a little edge and layering. The gold chain was pretty standard seeing as you'll very rarely see me without mines on.

On to night time. I'm in the process of sourcing the best transparent clutch bags at the minute for a future post, so I thought I would include this ASOS number in the meantime. A plain white, drape front tee from H&M, strappy Zara heels, gold chain and splash of red lippy help to tie it all together. It really is easy as pie to take these trousers from day to night and if I'm honest, I'm pretty pleased with how the outfits look. If I could afford to spend £175 ($265) on a pair of trousers right now, believe me, I would be doing so as soon as I finish typing this...

As promised, your Christmas partywear edit has arrived - and it only took around 15,000,000 hours. With so many retailers and amazing fashion out there at the minute, I had to narrow my store choices down a little: otherwise I could be here for days and you would be seeing this Christmas edit in 2013. With that in mind, I decided to hit ASOS first. With everything from high street to designer and clothes to beauty, I knew I could basically form an edit from their website, and that is exactly what I did - minus a pair of heels from Zara that I had taken a peep at yesterday and knew that I had to have in here. I've tried to take into consideration that some of us might perhaps decide that they want to go for separates (skirts or trousers) rather than a dress, so I've taken the liberty of adding those in for good measure as well. I've even added a little beauty and nail section which isn't something that you regularly see here at Vita di Moda, but you never know, if you like it I may just have to do it a little more often in 2013.

First of all, let me offer you my utmost apologies for the lack of new content in EIGHT days! This last week until December 14th has been - and will continue to be - a little stressful and my focus will mainly be on my university modules, as my deadlines are in this time. In my Fashion Communication course, I don't have typical exams. Instead I have briefs and deadlines (which I prefer), but it still gets you a little stressed because it seems as though you have one million things to hand in at the one time. I've managed to get three of the four briefs finished and have another two weeks to focus on the last one, so thankfully that means I now have a little gap to write some new content for you all. I hope you can forgive me!

Is it just me, or have you brought those knee high boots out from the back of the cupboard too? The temperature has well and truly dropped in Newcastle (Glasgow too when I've been visiting for the weekend), so I have literally been living in my over-the-knee black suede boots for the last couple of weeks. I actually wore a pair of ballet flats today and wanted to shoot myself in the face after I took one step out the front door. My poor little tootsies. Anyway. Inspired by my moment of madness, I decided to do a little online window shopping to see if I could find a nice new boots, or pair of shoes that would bring me a little extra warmth this chilly festive season - and naturally I am now sharing my finds with you lovely people.

First of all, if you're reading this and thinking, "where are the party options Maria?!"  fear not! I will be doing a post dedicated to Christmas party attire, which will include everything from dresses to accessories and shoes, so remember to look out for that post if you're needing a little inspiration for your Christmas nights out this month. I've tried to stick to boots which are of an attainable level (some readers may agree more than others. I'm a student for example), with some higher priced than others but mostly affordable and good quality. Boots are probably the only type of shoe that I would be prepared to pay slightly more for to ensure better quality, purely because I wear them during the colder months and want to make sure that they're going to last. With that in mind, here they are:

I don't know about you, but I am beyond excited for Christmas. I've been watching a Christmas movie every day and listening to Michael Buble's Christmas album on a loop whilst relaxing or doing my uni work. I just love getting into the spirit of things, so when the lovely Luke from The Jewel Hut presented this Christmas themed post to me last week, I just had to have it here for you guys. It's cheesy with themed hats and jumpers, but that's what the season is all about - so embrace it!

With Christmas shopping perched high on the list of purchase priorities, at this time of year it can be easy to forget to treat yourself to some swag. The winter wardrobe should already be in full swing (it’s freezing out there!), but your favourite high street stores and/or online retailers are also likely to be showcasing some festive garb and Christmas-themed accessory additions to really put a seasonal twist on your style. 

Everyone from Topshop to Urban Outfitters are on top of the trend for fun fairisle patterns, making a stylish Christmas jumper a more viable option than ever before. You can go all-out with comfy tops depicting reindeers and Christmas puds, or keep it a little more subtle (but still adamantly eye-catching) with a non-novelty snowflake motif you could get away with in January or Feb. Look out for similarly appealing options for the boyfriend or brother, too. 

Wrapping up warm is obviously a key thing to consider at this time of year, especially if you’re venturing out into the cold to stock up on goodies for friends and family. So, keep an eye out for scarves and gloves in the festive fairisle mode – the perfect final flourish when it comes to layering, and a sensible idea if you plan on treating yourself to a mulled wine or hot chocolate. 

You can imbue your look with further Christmas chic by looking out for very merry designs on everything from tote bags to tights. Have a little black dress marked out for Christmas Eve or this year’s work do? Pair it with some holiday-inspired jewellery designs; online retailers such as The Jewel Hut feature jewellery collections that celebrate Crimbo in stunning fashion – from stocking-shaped Pandora charms to snowflake pendants and embellished rings, there is something to suit and accompany every winter outfit.

When it comes to the colder months, my all time favourite shop-for item is a good winter coat. All year round you will probably find me in a blazer or leather jacket, but when the temperatures start to drop, the bad weather sets in (who am I kidding? it's bad weather all year round in the UK) and I start to feel a little frost bite on my extremities, that's when I know it's time to hit the high street and find that perfect coat that will see me through to Spring - or at least when the temperature starts to lift to a comfortable height.

So what do I look for in the perfect coat? Well, for starters it has to have a certain length so as to be worn with a variety of outfits: it can't be too long, other wise it'll just look a little silly when I wear my Adidas sneakers, but it can't be too short either, other wise it defeats it's purpose of being a winter coat - it's supposed to keep me warm! I usually find that anything around a mid thigh - above knee length will suffice. Second is the style. Obviously this changes slightly due to certain factors such as current trends, however anything double breasted with a collar high enough to stand up and keep the wind off my neck is definitely going to be a winner. I also like fitted coats, with a belted waist and deep front pockets (sewn in with a slight slant are my favourite - makes you appear slimmer I find. This is actually why I love my W116 by Walter Baker trench so much), so if I can find something like this, then I'm doing good on my quest.

I've not really done a great amount of research into a coat this year if I'm honest- other than my W116 by Walter Baker trench - however, ASOS never seem to let me down when it comes to Winter essentials, so naturally I checked there first. To say that I had a touch of writer's block would perhaps be the understatement of the year. This seems to be the norm after Fashion Month and it doesn't make me feel particularly happy or professional, so in an attempt to inspire myself I took to the internet and had a little browse around this weeks headlining news. One such headline that intrigued me, was that a man named Felix Baumgartner jumped from space and risked his life for both science and his need for a blood-pumping adrenaline rush. Can't say I would have risked my blood boiling and lungs exploding for an adrenaline rush - I get my kicks from shopping and grabbing a good deal - but each to their own as they say.

Anyway, this headline later inspired me when I was having a little look on ASOS. I came across the t-shirt, leather trousers and bracelets and decided to add the Ash wedge sneakers in as I already own those and they will be my choice of footwear when my outfit arrives in the post later this week.

Is it just me, or did the Chelsea boot trend just pop up out of nowhere? Wherever it came from, I'm seriously getting into the swing of it. I just have one problem though: I can't find a pair that I can commit to. So with my dilemma in mind, I thought it would be a good idea to make a post about said trend and compile a list of 6 styles I've come across on my search for the perfect Chelsea boot.

Starting at the beginning:

1. Suede Chelsea boot in black from Matalan - £10 - This is the cheapest of the lot, but what I love about this pair is that you can't even tell that they're so cheap. When I found out they were from Matalan, I had to go onto the website just to see if it was true. They also come in purple, red and black glitter. I could easily commit to this pair: cheap and aesthetically pleasing. Done.

2. Michael Kors 'Marden' Chelsea boot - £239 @ FarFetch - Higher up in the budget, but these leather boots from Michael Kors are going to fall into the quality section and give you years of wear. I love the pointed toe and and slick look of these boots the most. 

3. ASOS Amp Chelsea boot - £35 - With only 3 pairs currently in stock, it's clear that these platform heeled Chelsea boots are proving popular with fashionista's alike. Perfect for getting away with wearing your boots on a night out, this style of Chelsea boots are great for wearing both day and night. At £35, it's no wonder they're almost sold out!

4. Boohoo elastic insert ankle Chelsea boot - £30 - I don't know if it's the price, or the fact that I really like the chunky heel on this style that makes me want to buy them more. Whatever the reason, they're a pretty good choice if you want to buy into this particular shoe trend this season.

5. Boohoo Rachel pin stud Chelsea boot - £40 - I love the stud detailing on this pair, as well as the chunky heel. Studs are HUGE among bloggers and street style this year - so don't be surprised if you're getting snapped in these little beauties any time soon.

6. Cheska black patent Chelsea boot - £20 - Patent was a huge trend for AW'12 at shows such as Alexander Wang back in February, so these patent Chelsea boots will help you tick off two trends in the one go no problem. And with a retail price of only £20, you're going to be left over with some cash in your pocket to indulge in other trends as well this Fall.

The Hottest Trends In Sunglasses...

I don't know the where-abouts of all of you lovely readers, but here in Glasgow, the weather has gone from April showers, cold winds and snow up on the mountains, to cloudless skies, bright sunshine and above all, temperatures to rival that of South Africa and Spain. Us Scots like to cherish what little sunshine and warmth we get - after all, this week of sunshine is our Summer, so when you see everyone out with sunglasses, maxi dresses and sandals, you tend to feel cheery and light-hearted about life. As well as bringing a smile to my face, this spout of good whether has also inspired my next post: well, that, ASOS and the Summer 2012 issue of H&M Magazine. When you think of the belting sun showing it's face, you automatically think: "Ok, I'm going to need my shades today". If, like me, you have a particular favourite which go with every outfit you own and are the pair which you turn to without thinking, then perhaps this post is just going to be for entertainment purposes. However, those of you thinking that maybe you want a little change of eye-wear for the summer months, then you'll love this post!

Scour the high street stores, designer boutiques and online retailers and what will you find they each have in common? Some seriously funky eye-wear - that's what. This Summer, when it comes to choosing your sunglasses for that relaxing fortnight in the Neapolitan Riviera (or is that just me?) you're going to want to choose something fun and dramatic: after all, those are the new trends. Think along the lines of: Novelty, Retro & Cat Eye and you'll know which looks I'm talking about. Kudos to you for being brave enough to pull them off: You need bags of confidence to get away with them. I quite fancy a pair of cat eye shades, so I might buy a pair in black or nude. My wardrobe may have a splash more colour in it, however I like my eye wear to be almost like an LBD - elegant, classic and suitable for any situation.

Item number 2. Faux-leather sleeve trench is an item which I bought this weekend and all I can say about it is that it fits like a glove. It's unbelievably comfortable, soft, warm and above all: oh, so stylish! I definitely recommend it as a must buy for Spring/Summer 2012 - and every season after that, actually. I will be featuring it in tomorrow's style post, so make sure you come back tomorrow for that!

I'm getting addicted to this whole, outfit post scenario, i'm not going to pretend that I'm not. I lay in bed last night just thinking about today's outfit and what I was going to wear. It's no longer a case of what will be suitable for the weather, or college or anything like that: it's now a case of "what is going to look good enough to put up on Vita di Moda!?" Maybe it's the fact I've been wearing an abundance of colour and pattern over the last couple of weeks, instead of my usual black, grey and any other dark colour that I can get my hands on: but the confidence I now have in myself, as well as what I put together outfit wise has sky-rocketed. I love it!

The inspiration behind today's look came from my sister. She ordered some holiday clothes online - the shorts included - and decided that she didn't actually like them as much as she had previously thought once they had arrived. This is where it comes in handy to have sisters who wear the same size clothes as you, because said shorts ended up in my wardrobe. Oh, yes.
I teamed the shorts with my neon pink crop shirt, patent turquoise waist belt, rose gold watch, shamballa bracelet, crystal key necklace - three pieces of jewellery that I almost always wear, no matter what outfit I have on - floral skull print scarf and my trusty nude leather jacket. I felt like I should have had some mouse ears on, seeing as I had pretty much every other aspect of Minnie Mouse nailed to a T.

It's All Sunshine & Sparkles

Sunshine & Sparkles + Fairy is exactly how I felt when I put on today's outfit. Although the weather didn't exactly match my look - think strong winds, a broken umbrella and rain all at once - I felt very Spring-like with my peach sheer skirt (the fairy part), white tee and light denim jacket - oh yeah, I had my studded loafers on as well. You'll learn this about me: once I'm obsessed with an item of clothing, I'll wear it with everything until I can no longer stand to look at it for a little while.

Words cannot express how happy I will be when it's actually warm enough to ditch the tights. I'm being fairly optimistic with that "when" right enough - it's more like I'm hopelessly praying that it's going to be warm in the next few weeks. At least I have my trips to Italy on Sunday and again in June to get my dose of Vitamin D, eh?

Oh, on a side note: I ordered a jacket for Spring from The Outnet yesterday. It's this gorgeous nude trench from W118 by Walter Baker. It got dispatched today, so look out for the post later on in the week when it arrives. So excited!
