Good news everyone! Tomorrow is the first day of Couture Fashion Week AND I'm finally fixing my laptop situation and getting a MacBook next week. Happy days! I'll be blogging about some of the couture shows throughout the week, but for now, I thought I would do a little post on some of the designer case options on the market at the minute. Everyone has a laptop, so I thought it would be a good one for most people. Plus I just love accessorising and need to get something for my new Mac. I already have a Ted Baker case for my iPad, so the laptop has to look equally as stylish. 

Standard really, no?

The cases shown above are available from the Apple store, Farfetch, Macy's and Bloomingdales; so obviously it might depend on where you live for each product to be available to you, but I'm trying to accomodate my lovely readers from all over the globe. If I could provide products for everyone, believe me, I would. Anyway, prices range from as little as £36 to a whopping £665 (Jil Sander satchel, lower right corner) so there is something for everyones budget. 

Although I like each case that I've put into the collage, I am particularly fond of the black Michael Kors shopper (bottom left corner) and the neon pink Marc Jacobs case (do I really have to point that bad boy out to you?). I think I might be verging on forking out the £250 for the MK one, but if not, I reckon the £36 MJ one will do me just fine. 

Would you pay £665 for a designer laptop bag though? That's what I want to know. I suppose you could look at it in the sense that you're getting a designer bag - albeit smaller and designed specifically for a laptop - for less. I use my Ted Baker iPad case as a clutch every now and then, so why not?

First of all, let me offer you my utmost apologies for the lack of new content in EIGHT days! This last week until December 14th has been - and will continue to be - a little stressful and my focus will mainly be on my university modules, as my deadlines are in this time. In my Fashion Communication course, I don't have typical exams. Instead I have briefs and deadlines (which I prefer), but it still gets you a little stressed because it seems as though you have one million things to hand in at the one time. I've managed to get three of the four briefs finished and have another two weeks to focus on the last one, so thankfully that means I now have a little gap to write some new content for you all. I hope you can forgive me!

Is it just me, or have you brought those knee high boots out from the back of the cupboard too? The temperature has well and truly dropped in Newcastle (Glasgow too when I've been visiting for the weekend), so I have literally been living in my over-the-knee black suede boots for the last couple of weeks. I actually wore a pair of ballet flats today and wanted to shoot myself in the face after I took one step out the front door. My poor little tootsies. Anyway. Inspired by my moment of madness, I decided to do a little online window shopping to see if I could find a nice new boots, or pair of shoes that would bring me a little extra warmth this chilly festive season - and naturally I am now sharing my finds with you lovely people.

First of all, if you're reading this and thinking, "where are the party options Maria?!"  fear not! I will be doing a post dedicated to Christmas party attire, which will include everything from dresses to accessories and shoes, so remember to look out for that post if you're needing a little inspiration for your Christmas nights out this month. In the meantime, let's focus of the days in between!

I've tried to stick to boots which are of an attainable level (some readers may agree more than others. I'm a student for example), with some higher priced than others but mostly affordable and good quality. Boots are probably the only type of shoe that I would be prepared to pay slightly more for to ensure better quality, purely because I wear them during the colder months and want to make sure that they're going to last. With that in mind, here they are:

Ok, so day six of NYFW gave us SS'13 shows from the likes of: Carolina Herrera, Wes Gordon, Reem Acra, Mandy Coon, Marc Jacobs, Gilded Age and 3.1 Phillip Lim - however, here is a little collage of my favourite looks from a few select designers. As you all know, the CFDA Fashion Awards 2012 were held last night (Monday, June 4th) at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Centre NYC. The list of notable VIP's goes on for miles, so without talking to head off of you, that list included names such as: CFDA President Dianne von Furstenberg, CFDA CEO Steven Kolb, Alexander Wang, The Olsen twins, Grace Coddington, Anna Wintour, Prabal Gurung, Zac Posen, Rachel Zoe, Joan Smalls, Dree Hemingway, Donna Karan and Monique Lhuillier. The list literally does go on for days, and that doesn't even begin to include some other notable names from the world of music, entertainment and sport. Awards presented on the night included: 

• Womanswear Designer of The Year: Olsen Twins for The Row
• Menswear Designer of The Year: Billy Reid
• Accessory Designer of The Year: Reed Krakoff
• Swarovski Award for Womanswear: Joseph Altuzarra 
• Swarovski Award for Menswear: Phillip Lim
• Swarovski Award for Accessory Design: Tabitha Simmons 
• Geoffrey Beene Award Lifetime Achievement Award: Tommy Hilfiger
• International Award: Rei Kawakubo of Commes des Garcons 
• The Media Award, given in honor of Eugenia Sheppard: Scott Schuman & Garance Dore
• The Founder's Award, given in honor of CFDA Founder Eleanor Lambert: Andrew Rosen
• Fashion Icon Award: Johnny Depp (First male recipient in five years!)

Although the awards presented last night were notable enough, this wasn't the reason for my post today - my reason was in fact, none other than the outfits which these shining stars wore to the awards! Hardly a surprise though, right?
