I promised you lovely lot a post covering the above mentioned event on Thursday/Friday, however I'm a day out due to being roped into playing a few rounds of lazer quest (boy, does that activity require some amount of energy!), so I hope you can forgive me.

I arrived at CitizenM hotel, Glasgow at 8am on Thursday morning to help out with everything that had to be done before the event began at 6pm that evening. The first task on our agenda was to look at the three outfits each designer had given us to style for the show - this was definitely my favourite part of the morning. The designers we had to work with included: Chouchou, Stay-Sick, Aleena's Boutique, Christine Watson, TOC, DawnTroversial, MochMess, Tres'Demented Designs, Kelly McAllister Jewellery and more. Around 14 of the 20 designers confirmed for Prohibition Glamour were involved in the show: the rest had stalls set up to sell from.

Once each of the Colours Agency models were assigned to different outfits and had practiced their walk on the catwalk, they were then sent on their way to Rainbow Room International for hair and makeup. The theme for hair and makeup was natural, summer glamour. Well, the makeup was natural anyway. Hair, on the other hand, was large, crimped, volumized and inspired by Paris Couture fashion shows. The end result was absolutely gorgeous and really complimented each outfit in the show.

Fast forward to 6pm and guests began arriving, where they were treated to some complementary Kopparberg cider in three various flavours (the strawberry was particularly nice, actually), sushi from YO! Sushi and some hair styling by Rainbow Room International. The models in particular enjoyed the free Kopparberg: so much so that we had to go looking for them, so that they could get their first outfits on for the show!

Being backstage dressing, I had the opportunity to drool over the amazing fashion we had coming up in the show. Some pieces which caught my attention in particular were shoes by DawnTroversial and studded denim by Stay-Sick. The talent from each designer involved in the show however, was top-knotch - it really did make you want to just grab everything and run!

Show time was supposed to be 7pm, however due to some issues with models, outfits and various other things, we actually started around 7:30pm. What can I say? It's fashionable to be late! The first designs hitting the catwalk were a range of swimwear designs by Aleena's Boutique. Now, these designs are unlike anything you've ever seen before. To start with, it's definitely couture swimwear. I, for one, wouldn't dare to wear this to the beach/pool with the intent to go swimming. Secondly, these designs consist of an average of 3 pieces. If we didn't have Aleena backstage to help get the models into their outfits, I don't think we would ever figure it out! In the end though, they are gorgeous and intriguing to look at.

Next up we had outfits from Chouchou, DawnTroversial, Stay-Sick, Jeni Alison, MochMess, Christine Watson, Athena Boutique, Jazz Emporium, Aleena's Boutique and Touch of Cloth. Jewellery was by Rene Walrus, Katie Lee's, Jay McLean and Kelly McAllister Jewellery. Images are in no particular order:

After the show, attendee's were able to shop the looks from the catwalk, as well as other items from each designers stall: this was the one part of the evening where I wished I had all the money in the world!

“I Don’t Care About the Voracious, Starving Shit Eaters”

Hands up if you look at July's Vanity Fair cover and immediately start feeling green with envy? Yeah, I'm definitely joining you with this. Kristen Stewart landed her first solo cover for Vanity Fair, posing with a cute teacup pomeranian for the July issue. The infamous Mario Testino shot the star in Paris for the cover and editorial, so it's a given that the spread and cover would be fabulous. I actually can't get over just how amazing KS looks. Ugh, totally jealous.

The best thing about the editoral? The fact that the star slams the negative press she receives on her photographs so honestly:

“I have been criticized a lot for not looking perfect in every photograph, I get some serious shit about it. I’m not embarrassed about it. I’m proud of it. If I took perfect pictures all the time, the people standing in the room with me, or on the carpet, would think, What an actress! What a faker! That thought embarrasses me so much that I look like shit in half my photos, and I don’t give a fuck. What matters to me is that the people in the room leave and say, ‘She was cool. She had a good time. She was honest."

Her Twilight co-star and subsequent stud of a boyfriend, RPatz had this to say about about her 'lack of emotion' in the majority of her photo's:

“People have decided how they are going to perceive her. No matter how many times she smiles, they’ll put in the one picture where she’s not smiling.”

She definitely looks amazing and out of her recent magazine covers, this one has the potential to be her best yet. In my favourite image from the editorial, Kristen wears one seriously sexy haute couture corset by Jean Paul Gautier, with Faberge diamonds and emeralds at the ballet, posing alongside dancer Jeremie Belingard. Critics saying that the star looks terrible in her past photographs will have a hard time denying the fact she looks utterly show stopping in this editorial, that's for sure!

I'll be the first to admit that I like Kristen. I don't care if the majority of her photo's make her look as though she's sulking or unhappy, because if you watch her on the red carpet during a live streaming, you'll see that she's got a smile on her face 80% of the time. You don't walk around with a smile plastered to your face, so don't expect that from her either. She's a human being like you and I - albeit, highly paid and famous, but a human being like you and I none-the-less.

As you all know, the CFDA Fashion Awards 2012 were held last night (Monday, June 4th) at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Centre NYC. The list of notable VIP's goes on for miles, so without talking to head off of you, that list included names such as: CFDA President Dianne von Furstenberg, CFDA CEO Steven Kolb, Alexander Wang, The Olsen twins, Grace Coddington, Anna Wintour, Prabal Gurung, Zac Posen, Rachel Zoe, Joan Smalls, Dree Hemingway, Donna Karan and Monique Lhuillier. The list literally does go on for days, and that doesn't even begin to include some other notable names from the world of music, entertainment and sport. Awards presented on the night included:

• Menswear Designer of The Year: Billy Reid
• Accessory Designer of The Year: Reed Krakoff
• Swarovski Award for Womanswear: Joseph Altuzarra 
• Swarovski Award for Menswear: Phillip Lim

• Geoffrey Beene Award Lifetime Achievement Award: Tommy Hilfiger
• International Award: Rei Kawakubo of Commes des Garcons

• The Founder's Award, given in honor of CFDA Founder Eleanor Lambert: Andrew Rosen
• Fashion Icon Award: Johnny Depp (First male recipient in five years!)

Although the awards presented last night were notable enough, this wasn't the reason for my post today - my reason was in fact, none other than the outfits which these shining stars wore to the awards! Hardly a surprise though, right?

Prohibition Glamour!

Yes, you heard me right, the infamous Bold Souls Fashion Pop-Up's are returning this summer with their second Prohibition Glamour event on Thursday, June 7th 2012 at 7pm in CitizenM hotel, Glasgow.
Bold Souls held the very first Prohibition Glamour event last February and although the evening was undoubtedly amazing, they wanted to give Glasgow another but this time make it bigger, better and even more ambitious and glamorous than before!

For those of you who have never come across the event before, let me fill you in on some background info: Prohibition Glamour is a unique rendez-vous of independent fashion designers, exciting networking and a dazzling fashion show which showcases the best that each designer involved has to offer. It is an exclusive and highly tasteful evening of never-before seen fashion and personalised shopping, where guests can watch the show, try on and then buy items from over 20 stalls of cherry-picked designers in an informal and fashionable atmosphere. You can even chat to the designers and have the garments customised if you ask nicely enough! If that isn't enough to entice you along to the event, there will be complementary Kopparberg on arrival plus hair styling by Rainbow Room International. You really couldn't ask for a better evening if you ask me.

Prohibition Glamour partners include: Les Garçons de Glasgow, Rainbow Room International, Kopparberg and Colours Agency. These notable industry names, plus the success from the last event means that time is of the essence if you want to make an appearance on the night, as there are only 100 tickets available and boy, will those sell out like hot cakes! You can buy them online at www.boldsouls.bigcartel.com for a price of £10. For everything including in the evening, they're practically giving them away at that price! Doors open at 6pm in SocietyM (ground floor of CitizenM hotel), show starts at 7pm and will run until 9pm.

Blushing Bride Collection

Would you ever expect to walk into your local Topshop store and find a Bridal section in the corner? No, neither would I. Shoppers in London on June 15th & Toronto, Canada July 4th however, may just find that this is what they come across. 

Never before has Richard Nicoll collaborated with high street retailers to bring an affordable designer bridal range to the market, so it will be exciting to see how consumers take to this collection in particular. The hype which surrounds almost all designer & high street collaborations however, will undoubtedly be ever present - especially seeing as some of the gowns in the collection are limited to just 50 being produced. In total there will be seven designs for the blushing bride to choose from, in traditional white and rose - see where the "Blushing" part came from? - and prices will range between $165 and $640 (£75 - £350) For a typical collaboration piece $640/£350 may seem a little steep, but it's a bridal collection, so when you look at it that way, it's actually a pretty huge bargain for a wedding dress. 

The designer had this to say about the collection:

"I liked the idea of making a modern affordable alternative to meringue culture, but not precious, like my friends, something they would wear if they were getting married."

I have to say that I agree with that statement. Having been with my other half for just under six years now and engaged, I myself have tried on numerous wedding gowns and have found that I've hated every one that I've tried on. They're either too flouncy, over the top and just unflattering in every way possible. I'm a young, modern day woman, so therefore I want a dress that will match that and my personality. Although not all of the Topshop/R.Nicoll dresses appeal to me, some do, and that is why I would actually consider wearing one of the dresses on my own wedding day - whenever that should happen to be.
I actually love the idea of the rose coloured dresses, as white isn't normally a colour I wear anyway - I'm far too pale to carry off a white gown well!

I have to say, the very last lace dress in rose, would probably be the dress which I would gravitate to first to try on in store. It's gorgeous and at only £200, how could you say no?
